"In many parts of the Solomon Islands, oral tradition is a common way to pass on legends and stories of ancestors from one generation to another. In this piece, the story teller is telling a story to a group of youngsters within a tribe. Young people learn the ways of their ancestors through the telling of these custom stories. Story telling times are always a highlight and are often held in the evening time. These times are considered a privilege when an elder takes the time to depict in words the way of the old ones. Special occasions are a common time for these sessions to happen."
